So we all know I am super overkill with my camera. I, yet again, could not resist today. I was supposed to be working on my blog, and very, very easily got distracted by Cheech's stocking! My mom makes us the most beautiful ones. Unfortunately, this little lady only fit in her daddy's manly one. But she managed to still make it look adorable as ever! Yay, happy holidays!

For the past 5+ years I have been working on the clinical floor, working mostly with children. I loved my job and who I worked with; never, ever was a day repeated. I recently took a new position in the same company that brings on new challenges, a new schedule, and new attire! Excited and nervous at the same time. This week wraps up my old schedule, and I've handed off my wardrobe of trusty scrubs. Yipee!

So, its no big surprise I am super obsessed with anything that has to do with pumpkin; its in my coffee, my ice cream, my raviolis, etc. This may be one of the main reasons I love fall so much. Unfortunately, this year has brought us a supposed 'pumpkin' shortage. Let's hope we don't get affected too badly. So, this past weekend I tried to conquer the Pumpkin Roll for our family's Eagles n Rib dinner. My mother made it last Thanksgiving, and it was delicious! This time around, it was a lot of fun (and challenging) to make. My husband was not the most thrilled with the over flow of sugar left around the kitchen. ha. In conclusion, it ended up looking just a little funky, but tasted super yummy! Had to cut it up at the party, so I am unable to show a picture of it sliced. As requested by quite a few; here is the recipe! Enjoy :)

Roll:
3 Eggs
1 cup Sugar
2/3 cup Pumpkin
1 TSP Lemon Juice
3/4 cup Flour
1 TSP Baking Powder
2 TSP Cinnamon
1 TSP Ginger
1/2 TSP Nutmeg
1/2 TSP Salt

Filling:

8 OZ Cream Cheese (softened)
4 TBSP Butter
1 cup Powdered Sugar
1/2 TSP Vanilla

In a large bowl, combine eggs and sugar. Beat with an electric mixer until thick and light yellow in color. Add pumpkin and lemon juice, mixing until blended.

In separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spices and salt. Add to egg mixture, mixing well. Spread batter into greased and waxed-paper-lined 10x15 inch jelly-roll pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool for 15 minutes. Place cake on clean tea towel sprinkled liberally with powdered sugar. Cool 10 minutes longer. From 10 inch side, roll cake up in towel, set aside.

While cake is cooling in towel, prepare filling. Beat together cream cheese and butter; stir in powdered sugar and vanilla and blend until smooth.

Unroll cake. Evenly spread filling over cake. Roll cake (without towel). Wrap in plastic wrap.

Cover and chill for at least 1 hour, prior to serving. Slice before serving. Keep left overs in fridge, freezes well.

So, Sunday was supposed to be 90 degrees and sunny. Well, that may have been the case in PA, but in LBI it reached 67 degrees, mostly cloudy and super windy! It was still gorgeous, and even though the beach was small, it was still there. We have to be appreciative considering there are many parts of the island that lost entire beaches. It was a family trip, we all went down to open up the house, and start the season. Funniest part was probably us turning the water back on. Took nearly every family member; and there was a lot of us! Didn't venture too much with the camera w/ the weather conditions the way they were, so, just have a few! Great Sunday!

Went to visit a co-worker (Sharon) for a mini session of her nearly 11 year old pug, Sachmo. This little guy is so adorable, and he has trouble fitting his tongue in his mouth. Love it! More to come tonight. Hope you all are enjoying the weather!

Sadly, due to his diabetes, his tail remains down. But you can still see the curly!

So here, on the east coast, we've been blasted with blizzard after blizzard. I have honesty lost track of how many inches we've gotten in the past week, its total is well over 2 feet, maybe even 3. Here are some favorite shots!

A New Challenge!!

So, I got a great idea from my wedding photographer, its called Shuttercal. The task is to challenge yourself to use your camera every day for one year. Each day you are to upload your 'image of the day' onto the calendar site. This such a great way to sharpen your skills and stretch your creativity! I was tempted to wait until the first of the year, but I wanted to capture this holiday season. So, here goes!

Family Time!

So after a horrific week of Ebay wars (see below), we decided to go take some 'family time'and enjoy the 'new' camera at a local park. The weather was amazing! Unfortunately there was some kind of shooting practice going on, so Riley was a nervous wreck. Yes, we have a big chicken for a gigantic dog. ha. Here are a few of my favorites. Have a great week!

Home for Sale!

This week our home went on sale! We love our community, but our one-bedroom is no longer enough to hold us and Mr. Riley Dog. So we decided to move up to the townhouse sized homes here. Any inquires just email me! Its a great little space :)

Ebay Sellers: BEWARE!

Ever sell items on Ebay? Get your payment through Paypal? Maybe even personal emails from the buyer? I got all of that, and nothing. Last week I started a photography job that required a 'professional level' (20D or up) camera. Understandable. Like everyone else in this economy, I had no funds to do so. So, I sold my existing camera on Ebay to pay for my new one. Within 24hrs I had a buyer on my camera; $650 dollars + $60 to send to Nigeria to their 'niece.' The purchase was followed by personal (very polite) emails from the buyer, and emails of 'confirmation' from Paypal that the payment had been made by the buyer. Paypal requested the 'tracking' number of the shipped item in order for the funds to be released. I did just that, and low and behold, never got my money. I contacted paypal by phone; they never sent such emails. So, now, I am out $710, not to mention the money I just spent to buy my new camera (another several hundred dollars).

In conclusion, after hours on the phone with everyone and anyone, Ebay refunded me my measly $29.00 in sellers fees, and a 'sorry.' A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR (if not more) company cannot help me. Everything in Ebay protects the BUYERS and not the sellers. So, if you decide to SELL on Ebay, be sure to actually take the time to CALL paypal to get your money confirmed. Don't bother with Ebay or email, its useless. I hope you all have some better luck!

Last week, we very sadly, lost our Pop-Pop, Joe. He was such an incredible man, father, grandfather, artist, you name it, he was the best. This was many of ours' favorite shot of him. It was taken about 10 years ago. He was very known for sitting in his chair (at their shore home) in front of the light, watching his birds, wearing his hat. In this, he was doing just that, like every other summer day. He will be so greatly missed, but we know he is in such a better place, with his Louis. We love you, Pop-Pop!

Today I visited a close childhood friend at the hospital to meet her new little one! This is Emma, she is gorgeous and the calmest baby I have ever met. Colors!

Today I went up to NYC with my mother to shop for my dress fabric and ribbons/lace for the bridesmaid. All my upbringing of fabric stores could not have prepared me for today. We must have visited about 15-20 fabric stores; bolt by bolt. So, considering I cannot disclose any findings for my dress, why not share the bridesmaids' findings! We went to this amazing ribbon store and found the richest colors for all sashes to the dresses. Later we made it to a trim store to find equally bright colors in lace for the 'undercoat' of their dresses. So here is a little sneak peek of the array of colors! As for my dress, all I can say is; we got the fabric! Have a great week, all!

Last weekend I had the priviledge to shoot my cousin, Christopher and his fiance, Sarah's (now wife) wedding! It was such a fun and beautiful wedding with such great family! Here are a bunch of my favorites!

They got married at the most amazingly beautiful church. It was apart of the high school that Christopher had attended! So, so nice.

This was my favorite part of the wedding. Right before the 'garter throw' all the men of the party came up and sang 'you've lost that lovely feeling' (forgot the real title), that song from Top Gun!

I can't believe it, little cousin, Christopher is married! Sorry, Chris, ha. We ended the eventful week in Arizona with Christopher and Sarah's wedding! All of it was so fun, and a photographer's dream. Sarah has greatest taste! Again, more to come!

Visited my family out in Arizona last week in celebration of my cousin's wedding. Had the greatest time! My family stuffed my small 8 day trip with so many gorgeous mini trips and events; Sedona, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, dinners, wedding, etc. Each was so awesome, I am going to have to break it into different posts! So this weekend we had our family reunion down in Long Beach Island. GREAT time, GREAT weather! I had to capture a small yet adorable moment. So, today I went over to my cousin Lauri (www.laleephotography.com) and her husband, Mike's new home for a barbeque. They recently adopted one of the cutest puppies ever! Lauri asked me to take some fun shots of Derby before dinner, and I was honored to! Especially considering she is a far better photographer than I. The puppy was so spunky and full of personality. The Doors of New Orleans

One of the most amazing parts of the town were the doors. The colors were so amazing, and the shapes and designs were all so different from each other. I don't think I saw one similar door to another, unless it was the same house.

Day 2: New Orleans (Saturday)

So, Saturday was the big party for my Aunt Alyse's and Uncle Chris's 25 wedding anniversary. Anyone who knows them, knows it is an AWESOME party with the best food and drink. I was stuffed with crawfish, shrimp, pulled pork, and even a raw oyster (yuck). It was such an amazing time. To start I had to take my fun 'nature' shots. The party was hosted at a close friend of theirs', Terry's home. The landscaping was just amazing. Enjoy!

Uncle Chris had his "to-do" list stuffed in his belt from my Aunt. It was too funny, so I had to grab a shot.

They hired a man to do nothing but 'shuck' the oysters. This was the hot-spot of the night. I tried one, and only one... However, everyone else sucked them down like candy! (yuck)

The MOST yummy part of the night. I can't get enough of these. Delicious!

1st Night (Friday) in New Orleans

So, after thumbing through all of the photos, I realized there are far too many to do in just one post. Not to mention, I can't even imagine how long it would be until I finally completed the post! Instead, I decided to do a post for each day (3 days total). This first post was the first night in New Orleans. We had a fancy dinner at my Aunt Alyse's friend's restaraunt down in the French Quarter in celebration of Aunt Alyse and Uncle Chris's anniversary. Oh, what fun!
